cannot tell which version one is installing

Post by jidanni »

1. I cannot log in to your bug tracker. So, I will just mention that from PhpBB's installation screen, there is no way to tell what version one is installing.

You need to have an account registered at the main site and wait 24 hours.

The downloads page contains the latest stable version, which is the one you should be installing. Failing that, why not just check the ACP after install and upgrade if it's not the latest?

Actually, now that I think about it, what would be the point of listing the version you're installing on the install page? :?

Errr... to know wich version are you installing?

Maybe you renamed the file, or you forgot, or you copied it from some where, or...
I didn't realise the version number wasn't on the install page, honestly, but I think it should be. Can't think of a reason why not.

Adding it to the page sounds reasonable to me.

I agree that the version should be displayed on the install page(s), too. It's just a little extra confirmation that you're running the correct installer and that somebody didn't package the wrong code base in the installer.
