Include error pages.

For qute a whiile i thought to propose/post this on here.

I think We should include Error pages in the phpbb software, that use the current style (header/footer) of the forum.
I use the following mod on my board, even if its a few versions behind.
http://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/mod/th23_error_pages/

I had in mind to write my own one by using the default .shtml server files and trying to include the header and footer pages (dont remember how.. probably using iframe or including the html files .. whatever)

I didn't get correctly what you want. Can you explain it better?

-1, this isn't the job of the forum at all.

I'm with callumacrae. I think doing that is not a forum's job.

I agree actually, despite the fact that this is not the forum's purpose this makes the forum look smoother as a whole, which is a deciding point in many's minds.

@Rallix
If they want such thing, use an extension (and alter the .htaccess) for that same purpose.

phpbb doesnt have too many extra pages anyways, in my opinion this will it will make it seem bigger an fancier :)
The errors will be because you requested a in existing file, or whatever from the forums. If it isnt isnt a forum business as you say, why not make it a forum business? A lot of sites use this to integrate their website with the error pages, so it will all look like a single thing.

1. phpbb now sends http status codes 404/403 in some situations. These pages can be considered to be "error pages".

2. phpbb has simple header/simple footer templates that may be used to make your own pages.

I would suggest the following:

1. Writing an extension that would render whatever other pages you need (generic 404?) using simple header/simple footer.

2. Failing that, explaining more precisely what it is that you want phpbb to do/provide.
