mainly incorporate naderman suggestions (well, those that i agree with, anyway), but some other small stuff. thanks, Nils! (sp?)
i listed the changes at the bottom or the post .

i think this is "wiki ready".
if you think otherwise, please comment.
if you volunteer to create the wiki page, please comment.

i can't guarantee, but if no one will volunteer, i intend to do it myself (no promises).
