Well topic icons are enabled on a per forum basis Goto ACP>>Forums>Manage Forums
Select the forums for which you want topic icons hit the green edit icon.
You will find an option "Enable Topic Icon:Yes:No"
Set it to yes :D

What does it say under "Permissions" in the bottom left corner?

e.g.:
Forum permissions
You cannot post new topics in this forum
You cannot reply to topics in this forum
You cannot edit your posts in this forum
You cannot delete your posts in this forum
You cannot post attachments in this forum
See: Knowledge Base - phpBB3 Permissions

(I suspect COD3M4ST3R-X has totaly misinterpreted your question.)

If you mean this ICON

Image

this means you have to copy the imageset from the English Style to whatever language Style you're using

Example

styles\prosilver\imageset\en

to any language, in my case Arabic

styles\prosilver\imageset\ar

if the directory "ar" is not created create one * for the language you're using

That was my first guess, but his board only has British English installed.

All ... many tks, for great help. I have done the forum>manage forums>edit>'edit topic icons' to 'yes' and submitted, but
the icons do not appear. I have refreshed my desktop and refreshed the php cache, but no luck ... the topic box icon still is not appearing ... other ideas?

alright,,, so

1- you want to show the Topic Icon when posting a new topic or reply

Image

2- you went to the forum setting and choose "Yes" for the

Image

After Click Submit and going to the "Specific Forum" When clicking on "New Topic" the icons are not there

I have a question, did you try using the default style, Prosilver, and see if it is a style related matter

His problem is solved. It was nothing to do with "topic icons", just with the "new topic" button!
I already pointed out in my first reply that COD3M4ST3R-X had misinterpreted the problem, and you continued it.
