alternate subforum listing style

on a modified v2 forum i moderate, we have a different style for subforum listings on viewtopic pages. instead of showing the full forum/topic/post/lastpost box, we have a down arrow and then the subforum title itself.

anyone know how to do that on v3?

no, but i'm not too keen on making the users click the hide buttons... got any other mod suggestions?
