Total Noob~Installing EasyMOD

Post by coffeetalkforums.com »

I feel like a complete idiot for asking this but how do I install this...........

I had a site hosted on freeforums and everything was taken care of for me. Now I am looking at these mods to install and see that easymod will make it So much easier for someone like me :D
But.....I'm not sure how to go about installing it....everything is like reading a foreign language :(

I downloaded the file and it is sitting on my hardrive (zip file) but now how am I supposed to extract it to my forum? Am I supposed to do a backup and download it to the backup?

Or do I make new files in the file manager in my cPanel?

I'm so sorry......Thank you for any help you are able to give me!

you use ftp , not the file manager or frontpage or anything likethat.

get a good ftp program and learn how to use it to connect to your server.

filezilla is good and it is free. google for it.
first, you unzip the easymod zip file to somewhere on your computer.
then, using your ftp, go to your phpbb admin folder, create a new folder named mods

then, upload the easymod folder that you have after unzipping it.

then, in your browser, go to:

yourdomain.com/yourphpbb/admin/mods/easymod/easymod_install.php

then fill out the form and it will install.

I think ive done all of this im a little confused what admin folder since i have one in the main board and anther in the public html. but i placed it in the main board admin. but after that im completly lost.

it says to put this in your web boswer:

yourdomain.com/yourphpbb/admin/mods/easymod/easymod_install.php

the part in bold is what im confused about i have a domain and the admin to the end makes sence but how do i find out my php?

whatever the folder name of your board is , that is what "yourphpbb" means.

if your board is here:

yourdomain.com/phpBB2

then it goes into the phpBB2/admin/mods folder.

if your board is here:

yourdomain.com/forum

then it would go there.
