I don't recall vB or its community being involved in any of this controversy. As for IPB, that didn't exist until much later. But you would be right to look at IPB's family tree; there's a significant player there (I won't name it here since the product still exists but under completely different circumstances). I can't recall the names of individual skinners who were responsible for the direct ports, and some of the other products in play at the time no longer exist.

Ah... that would explain the lack of knowledge of any such happenings, thanks for taking the time to explain, Sam. :D

Offtopic, what is the key to use for apostrophe ‘ ” ’ “ on Windows?
For us Mac people, it's easy... option, shift, [, ] do the trick... but is there a similar shortcut for Windows?
I notice SHS` uses it quite often... he can't possibly be coping it... or does he use a Mac? :P

Try using 'alt' with the numeric keypad.

'alt' 0145 = ‘
'alt' 0146 = ’
'alt' 0147 = “
'alt' 0148 = ”

All the codes are available from the 'character map' application.

Or write "I wanted to say 'hey'!" into Ms Word, it'll do everything for you...

yeah there are all sorts of crazy-ass alt-key combos in windows. far less sensible method than that of OS X.

but meh, for a different discussion.

as for RC, at the rate these bugs keep getting filed, we're never gonna get it!

keep up the work fellas, Olympus has made lots of progress over the past year, and 07 will I'm sure see the edges smoothed out a lot more, and possibly/probably the release with this new style :D

What's the rational for doing a security audit after RC release? As another poster was pointing out, isn't the point of RC it's "good to go" according to the development team and really only is a safety net because everyone expects an increase in exposure to generate more bug reports? If you expect to do a security audit that will result in another RC, wasn't the previous RC just another beta?
