well well.

Just installed the new CVS and it says B5.

No problems during install and converting.

 It's not a CVS that says B5, it IS Beta5. (No CVS folders in it, attachement is working again, etc.) ;)

I wish to remind you that it's illegal to run beta5 before beta5 is announced.
And no support provided.
:P

fantastic! but is anyone able to clarify:

it says we shouldnt do the beta in a live environment, but we are able to test the conversion from 2.x to 3.x ...so if i convert my live 2.x forum, are the users still able to us the 2.x version after the conversion? Or else there is no way of testing the conversion without going live without starting a new 2.x board...which takes time to build up etc...

any guidance appreciated, thanks

Don't quote me one this, so I advise doing complete backups first, but when I converted I was still able to use both the phpBB2 and phpBB2 forums afterwards(bare in mind this was during the beta 4 stage)

You must place phpBB3 in a different folder than phpBB2.
Then, you run the update/convert.
So you'll get two copies of the same database.
(Of course you better do some backup)

you do not get two copies of the same database, you get two set of tables in the same database, the original phpBB2 ones and the converted phpBB3 ones :) but they share the same database.
