Is phpbb3 completly rewritten?

Post by muhaidib »

Hey there, I wanna ask a question... is phpBB3 completely rewritten from phpBB2 ?

or have you taken the "bone" codes and added more to it, or what has been done exactly?

thanks

Actually it's not re-written from the base up.
Only such parts as permissions, CAPTCHA, admin system, user stuff, etc is rewritten...

I would be surprised if you'd find more than a few hundred lines (Olympus has more than 100,000 lines) that remained from the 2.0 line.

oh well that means that 1% to 5% of the code is old and the rest is new,, thats still pretty amazing!!

I know it takes a lot of hard work because I have a small website and I completely change the code when upgrading the version (for example when I learned PHP, i used it alongside HTML and all that stuff)

1% to 5% would be 1000+ lines to 5000+ lines. He said a few hundred.
