hey I got a feature request for phpbb3 gold:
Everytime time a user applies for a usergroup the admin and/or the group leader(s) get an email telling that user xy applied for being a member in group yz
because youz don't check the ucp every day for new users,and you sometimes simply forget about this.

Isn't this already the default behavior for closed groups in phpBB2?

It is a feature that exists already... an email is dispatched to the group leader that a user applied for a group and requires approval.

Yup, even phpBB 2 is sending out emails for new applications to groups. More than likely phpBB 3 is doing the same thing for at least closed groups. Maybe it doesn't send out any notification for open groups (new feature for 3.0).
