Why is Olympus called Olympus?

Post by Highway of Life »

I've seen this answered before, but I can't remember why they decided to name phpBB3 "Olympus".
I know they named it after Olympus Mons on Mars, but why?

Anybody remember?

Search turned up empty handed... to many people say "Olympus". ;)

then change the name to "Tourmalet"/"Ventoux" (cycling) or "Everest" (climbing).

Olympus is WAY too easy to be given name to this process ;).

Hey Mr eye roller. viewtopic.php?p=151494#p151494
Read the bottom part of my reply.

Your reply in this thread is VERY UNCALLED for. HighwayOfLife has been VERY Helpfull and supportive of you guy's and doesnt deserve a reply with the eye rolling. No user of the software here should ever get a reply like that ESPECIALLY from the second in command! You should be ashamed of yourself. SERIOUSLY!

I consider this an ad hominem, so you have been warned. ;) HighwayOfLife is as noted general helpful, though do remember these are the development forums, and thus not everything relating to phpBB gets posted here, and instead on the main forums. Thus, searching for any such information here would be looking for the elephant (sic) in the wrong haystack. ;) I'd have given the same reply had it been him asking it, you, a team member or even James himself. ;)

Gotcha. I apologize. Perhaps it doesnt help when we dont know you guy's that well. I just dont think that it look's appropriate coming from someone such as yourself and probably sends out the wrong ideas to others such as myself who as said dont know you as well.

Have a good day! :)

I know Olympus is "one hell of a hill to climb," but I also recall reading that its base is so wide that you would hardly even notice as you climbed up...
