Why are there link borders around images?

Which images?
Do you mean images in posts, or do you mean button images?

When do these borders appear, when you hover your mouse over an image, or always there?

What Browser and version are you using. Does it support XHTML 1.0, CSS1 and CSS2?

I don't see any problem myself.

Are you using any blocking software that prevents loading of linked items (imags, Javascript, stylesheets)?

How can anyone help you if you don't provide any information?

I'm using Firefox 1.5.0.4 and I don't have any of what you listed disabled.

All other sites appear normal to me, except for this one. I guess since "it's just me", that this must be a bug or something. I just looked at the phpBB3 beta1 boards that I set up on my site and didn't modify - no borders there.

So it's something that's unique on this site that's causing it.

Edit: OK, I clicked 'refresh' and it went away. Must've visited the site right as they changed something and still had a cached version of it.

GIF images with links will always display a blue 2px border by default. Just set border=0 in the <img> tag. Fixed.

Thanks for contributing absolutely nothing to the topic - and I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter what the image extension is. Unless you specify otherwise in your CSS or HTML, linked images will have a border around them.

I thought I was reasonably chilled. Mind you its hard to convey meanings over the internet.
How was I supposed to know if you where an idiot or not? You posted 13 words (one of which was dump), I just assume lowest level of intellect and if you are lucky enough to be higher than that (which in hindsight you appear to be) then ingore the uneeded bits.

Could have been the CSS style sheet was being cached and it was using an old version.

I do have to agree with you, I wouldn't have thought whether it was a PNG JPEG or GIF should make any differance what-so-ever. Is it in the XHTML 1.0 or HTML 4.01 spec that browser should behave differantly for differant image types? (I haven't read the entire spec btw).
I don't often make GIFs PNG is a nicer format and it doesn't have patent issues.
