Sort By: Post Time Ascending at the bottom of the thread ought to fix that for you.

[Edit]Fixed, but shouldn't it be the other way around?[/Edit]

Some vBulletin have the latest posts at the top which gets on my nerves. That's not how forums are supposed to look. I want to know what the topic is about, and not just from the title. With that kind of sorting i have to go to the "last" page which is really the first page because it has the first post.

But if you like seeing the last posts first, you can do what was said above.

Every user is able to change this setting within their profile/ucp.

Problem is, the change doesn't seem to stick, Acyd.

Will the admin have the ability to select the default setting?

Looks like it is a reflection of how bottom-quoting has now almost completely replaced top-quoting in emailing. I've never liked that, but if everyone else around you complains how they don't like how you quote their emails, what are you to do...?

<rant>Anyway, doesn't make sense to put it to use on forums, IMHO. Just teach your users to click the little orange icon to get to the oldest unread post. Since when have we started reading from bottom to top?</rant>

Good thing it is configurable for those that want it, I suppose.

As is always said here, "this is a dev board".
