No, that's not how it works. Adsense tells Google 'take a look at page ucp.php?i=pm' or whatever. Google takes a look, and simply finds a login box or a message saying that Bots cannnot use the PM system or something.anticelebrity wrote: Adsense definitely will, given that it collects information about each page as it is viewed and presents targetted ads accordingly, which means if a user views their pms and an adsense page is there, the PM content may possibly be cached by google.
msn, google searching through private messages??

Well, it's a fair mistake to make. What you have to realise is that as far as your server is concerned, the GoogleBot (or any other bot) is simply another user.
As for the Toolbar... I would be surprised if it worked in a way to collect personally identifiable information.

I saw something amazing!!
I installed the cvs from a few days ago, and this on my personal computer!
My local environement is wampserver (with apache/php/mysql) and I'm on Windows XP (I know ). I'm behind a firewall and adsl router. My isp gives a dynamic ip.
I didn't upload this version anywhere on an internet server, and I however had bots listed as crawling at the admin index page! That's impossible I guess...
Looking forward to see if it still happen with the beta, rc and final release.

Whether bots crawl your site is not dependant on phpBB. Your webserver must be exposed to the outside world through your router./

my localserver isn't open to the web, but I understood now.
I feel stupid because I mistook a supposed bots log with something else
sorry for having taken your time

I don't see issues with Google adsense on private pages?
Take, for example, GMail. When I'm reading personal emails, AdSense is scanning them for keywords and showing appropriate ads.
Sure, it scans private information, but that information isn't stored anywhere on Google servers or anywhere in between.

Re: msn, google searching through private messages??
AdSense can do that on GMAIL because Google has specifically setup GMAIL to do that (and obviously not do public or searching caching). However, as I have said, AdSense cannot browse private pages of other users because the board sees the Google bot as a sepcific user granted specific privilleges.

I use Ad-Sense on my main page. Just one advert. I've noticed that google bot stays on forum all day.Davidls wrote: are you using ad-sense or the google toolbar?
Is this because of ad-sense?
