VSE+ wrote:Maybe its just me, but I think those topic titles would look better in BOLD. Right now, they just kind of disappear and just add visual noise. If they were BOLD, they would stand out a better and have better impact.

Done:

http://tracker.phpbb.com/browse/PHPBB3-11025
But without bold is more elegant :(

I would file a bug report but nothing is loading today, but with one line forum descriptions it looks awful, they should be vertical aligned: http://cl.ly/image/2z3W3u2r1Q0z

I also think that they should be truncated using CSS: currently if I make the browser window small it wraps and looks a bit silly, and if I make it really wide it's being truncated unnecessarily early.

Sorry for not saying this when the PR was open, it was one of the PRs I never looked at.

callumacrae the align looks good to me, however the truncate via CSS sounds like a good idea

I think that the icon should be next to the text. Hate vertical align, or I would get a comparison for you xD

Does not make sense to keep also the icon :D
However, without bold is more clear...

Guys, is there a quick hack I can use to integrate this into a live forum while the final code is being straightened out?

This is not 3.1's implementation, but you could follow the instructions in this KB article for 3.0.x.

Will that method result in more strain on MySQL than this one?
