While posting the message above, I got following error:
Fatal error: Function name must be a string in /var/www/phpbb/area51.phpbb.com/area51-phpbb3/phpBB/includes/functions_messenger.php on line 1753

When clicking the udate link here: Now start the update process by pointing your browser to the install folder.
I get this message: Please delete, move or rename the install directory before you use your board. If this directory is still present, only the Administration Control Panel (ACP) will be accessible.
Im updating from a1 to a2

has there been any discussion that i've missed, on why this wont install on PHP Version 5.6.8?
or that php version too advance right now?

It should install on 5.6.8 as well.

maybe it's quickinstall that is the problem version 1.2.1 i get this:
Fatal error: Class 'Patchwork\Utf8\Bootup' not found in C:\xampp\htdocs\qi\sources\phpBB3_alt\phpBB3_3.2.0\includes\utf\utf_tools.php on line 27

QuickInstall is not likely to work with 3.2 without some modifications.

yeah that seemed to be the problem, i got it installed fine the normal way
