Forum Postings: Auto-Update (Ajax)

Post by SvenLittkowski »

It would be wonderful, if - as long as a forum is kept open in the browser - it would auto-update itself whenever someone created a new thread or new posting within a thread. Similar to Facebook: you keep a group page open, and you see immediately the new postings as they are added by anyone posting there to the open thread.

Same with notifications: show them as they occur.

We've already discussed this and the general consensus is "no thanks" for many various reasons. If you want such a feature you can create an extension.

Hi, thanks for the answer. Still, sad to hear that. What were been the reasons that the general consensus was negative? Or, is that discussion available as a thread here somewhere?
