are there any accepted event list out there (for 3.1)?

Keep in mind, that list is limited to template events, I believe. For the PHP events, right now you'll need to do a Find In Files search for some common code shared by event definitions. For instance, all PHP events should have
* @event
in the docblock, so you can do a search for that.- nickvergessen
