Blacklisted IPS

Post by dave1p »

Since installing 3.0.4 and in the last couple of days I have a number of users that are getting this message;

Your IP xx.xx.xx.xx has been blocked because it is blacklisted. For details please see http://www.spamhaus.org/query/bl?ip=xx.xx.xx.xx.

(I have removed their IP)

They only get this while posting to topics in forums but they are able to send PMs.

How is this getting reported back to them?

On the Security Settings page, check "Check IP against DNS Blackhole List:"
That is only checked on Registration and Posting.

Ok - That is set to yes - Is it possible to change the blacklists it checks IPs against. I think there are issues with the Spamhaus listings from experience with mail Servers I have had responsibility for in the past. I would like to edit the list if at all possible.

You are probably better off disabling it.

I'll probably have to I agree but is there any way of editing the DNS Blackhole lists?

Shame - the ability to edit that would be a nice feature imo

The owner of the IP, which means the Internet Service Provider not your member, has to contact Spamhaus to have the IP removed. See Spamhaus' Listing Policies and Delisting Procedures.

I know all about Blacklisting and getting IPs de-listed (and that can be quite tricky to do sometimes with certain ISPs such as AOL).

What I am interested in though would be the ability to choose which Blacklists PHPBB3 uses.

All lies into the sessions.php file

Code: Select all

		$dnsbl_check = array(
			'sbl-xbl.spamhaus.org'	=> 'http://www.spamhaus.org/query/bl?ip=',
		);

		if ($mode == 'register')
		{
			$dnsbl_check['bl.spamcop.net'] = 'http://spamcop.net/bl.shtml?';
		}
there you should be able to modify that stuff.
