transfering from one server to another

I installed a new install of 3.04, went to my old install and did a backup , took it to newly installed and restored it, but it comes back with errors

is trhere a better way to transfer all the old posts? and users etc

You need to run the database update script in the install folder after restoring if your older version is not 3.0.4.
