Best ACP settings to keep storage size from getting too big?

Post by creolejazz » Mon Feb 02, 2009 9:20 pm

I've got version 3.1. Over the last few years, more and more photos and other objects have been uploaded in my message board. This takes up disk space on my website server. What are the best ways to prevent the continued growth of data? For example, is there a way to auto-delete threads that have not been read/viewed for a year? Is there a way to limit the size of graphics uploaded? That sort of thing. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Yes. This is the pruning feature, available on the forums tab of the ACP. You can set it up to be automatic if you select a forum and edit its settings, or you can do a one-time operation from the prune forums link.
Is there a way to limit the size of graphics uploaded?
Yes. You'll find this setting in the ACP -> Posting Tab -> Attachment settings

Thanks for the help. And, yeah, you're right. I have version 3.0.4. Sorry about that.
