How to hide forum from view of guests?

Post by Hern »

I can't for the life of me work out what I have done wrong here.

If you bring up my website http://www.katewinsletforums.com There should be no forums visible until you log-in.

However, one of the parent forums and it's 4 subforums are now showing.

I have went through the admin control panel and compared the forum's that are showing, to the others that do not, but I can not work out which option I have enabled / disabled.

Can someone please tell where I am going wrong. :)

Sorry to hijack this thread but it's sort of just what I need... :?

I have the opposite issue.

Following the install of two mods recently my guests can no longer see the forums? They can see the board3 portal ok but if the click on forums they get the message " this board has no forums" and if they click on a topic they get sent to the log in page?

I have checked all permissions as stated above and guests are set to read only for all forums?

Can anyone offer any help here?

TIA

Gobby

Gobby: The only thing I can think of that might cause your problem is a mistake while installing one of your MODs.

Check that the anonymous user account is actually in the guest group too.

I was doing some work the other day on groups and saw this member " anonymous was in the guests group and thought it was something or someone trying to mess with things so i deleted the members...

Now this is what being new is all about

Ok so is there a way I can reinstate this anon member at all or have I messed things up good? :?

For reference, the anonymous account is the one used by everyone who is not logged in yet. All the permissions for that user, styles etc are what the guests see when not logged in.
