blank white screen after registration agreement change

Using phpbb 3.04 in prosilver

I've done this before with no problem but,...

I simply alter a bit of the text in the registration agreement, /language/en/ucp.php and then get a blank white page in the browser.

Before upload I save the existing ucp.php as old_ucp.php and of course as soon as I restore that, the stock reg agreement comes back.

I'm using Note Tab Pro to make the changes and save the file, I've done the same thing before with the reg agreement and many other changes in Rainbow Pearl theme and never encountered this.

I'm only ADDING a few lines of text to the 3rd paragrach, inline, not altering any code. Is there something I'm missing with prosilver?

The most common user-error in this case would be adding an unescaped apostrophe.
