Hi All
I am setting up a NEW Forum, using phpBB 3.04. Using a Windows 2003 Server, running IIS6 with PHP 5.28 (Latest) and FastCGI support.
Locally the Forum runs perfectly - however from remote IPs (not on my local network) users are experiencing up to a minute or so to View a Topic (viewtopic.php). Logging-in, registration, Forum views are normal.
The Forums can be view at: http://forums.abbotsfordslopitch.com
Drill into a Forum and view a topic, you will see a noticeably LONG wait to get the actual article. What I am confused about is why on the local network this is instant, the pause is only being seen from remote PCs. There are numerous websites, PHP on this server - all working normally.
Looking for some ideas - as I am running out of things to try....
Thanks
Jeff

Hi,
If you uncomment the two defines at the end of config.php, you should see page generation times and an "explain" link at the bottom of the page. You should be able to use this to determine the slowdown, or if it is related to phpBB.

Thanks for that - I tried that - not seeing anything unusual.
If you visit the sample link - and here is another: http://forums.marnik.bc.ca - and drill into the Forums to view the detail of a posting. When clicking the posting heading the site seems to stall for about 1 minute, then releases and then quickly loads the detail/forum posting.
I have a number of PHP websites on this server, no issues - just having trouble with this latest PHP 3.04.
Or directly load this link:
http://forums.marnik.bc.ca/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1
It sits, and eventually loads the topic/detail.
I am running:
Win2003 IIS6
mySQL 5.019
PHP 5.28 / fastCGI Mode
I am thinking I am missing a setting or something that is creating some server issues, perhaps not directly related to phpBB - but certainly affecting phpBB. Oddly enough there is NO lag at wait for local access - just remote access, could it be something firewall related? Not sure how as this is all port 80 traffic.

Runs fine. No delays for me.

Thanks. The issue has been located - our Astaro firewall was the problem, Intrusion protection was blocking access.
Thanks

Me, too!
Accessing the forums on the internal LAN is no problem. But from home, lots (lots!) of browser timeouts, or half page loads as indicated by the progress bar on the browser, or the HTML portion and some of the graphics but none of the CSS, etc.
But I haven't heard any complaints from my users. UPDATE: Just got a notice saying there's a lot of "Unable to load page" notices from one of my users.
The forums get fed through a DI-604/Briteport(bridged) on a static IP. There is a firewall in the DI but it is switched off. I do have port forwarding switched on.
Initially, I was blaming crummy DNS service from my ISP, but that would affect a lot more than just the forums.
So, what was it about your firewall settings that by changing them solved your issues?
