i think it is amusing that generally when this sort of topic is brought up, people label themselves as liberals. but talk to them, or watch how they vote, and you realize one of the LAST things they are is liberal. I'm not saying it's good or bad to be one way or another, but i think nowadays people think it's chic to call themselves liberal because they think they are more open to change than they really are deep-down.

I consider myself a liberal, but not really. I don't know. Labels are hard. I think that their needs to be drastic reform to our elections system (i.e. the pubic pays for politicians campaigns).
And I love [i1d7fc]The Progressive[/i1d7fc].

Sticking flowers in the barrels of National Guard rifles ... and then criminally burning down the ROTC building ... all oh, and ah, and then there's running, and screaming ...
Is it mixing metaphors when you blend movie quotes/paraphrases with reality?[/quote410ab]
"Somethin' happenin here...
What it is ain't exactly clear.
There's a man with a gun over there..."
Hmmmm. Reminds me of when I had hair.

Oh god, that's the last thing we need. That insures that we will never get rid of the clowns that are already in office to begin with.

How so? Since the "clowns" are already in office and will continue to be why not try something new?
Basically, with elections payed for by the public, you can reduce the amount of special interest groups and corporate influence. Let politicians be politicians and not have to help a company because that company donated to their campaign. And studies, AFAIK, have shown that public sponsored elections cost states/countries less then when the politician raises money from outside groups (because there is reduced tax cuts and stuff for those corporations that donate).
Also, we could get some cool people in office who may not have (or be able to raise) the millions of dollars you need to run these days.
