You work for MS, right?
I mean, you can´t really mean all that.

The GameCube has no games? Did you see Rogue Leader? Or even Luigi´s Mansion for that matter.
Halo looks like your average PC-FPS. What´s so special about that?

And as for the Dreamcast: With ShenMue 2 just out, it just made another mark, baby! I can´t see the X-Box beating that one just yet :D

Xbox is simply the best. Gimme and point and I'll counter it. C'mon, I dare you. :) I've been arguing this point for months and months... I've heard em all, and GTA3 IS coming to Xbox in Q1 2001. ;)

This topic is just sooo funny, it really reminds me of the mid-80's Spectrum vs. C-64 and late 80's/early-90's ST vs. Amiga ... nice to see traditions continue :D

I have always loved Sega and I'll never sell my Dreamcast but I guess I've got to face it, DC is dead, and the Xbox seems like the best console and the one that's going to have best sega games (PSO2, Jet Set Radio Future etc.) I hate MS as much as the next guy but the DC ran on windows CE and it was OK.

The DC didn't run [ia4485]on[/ia4485] Windows CE, it [ia4485]ran[/ia4485] Windows CE.

And okay, three spectacular in-house Microsoft games? How about Halo, NFL Fever 2002, and Munch's Oddysee? Oh, and by the way, Shenmue 2 isn't just for Dreamcast, hate to burst that little bubble you were living in :)

Sorry, I work for Viacom, not Microsoft. I know you were hoping, but I don't judge a company, I judge its product, and Xbox is the best of the best right now. PlayStation is old technology, and Nintendo is for kiddies. (And so with a bunch of Sony and Nintendo ads plastering my work place, it's really making it painful for me to respect my employer at all :))

Yes, I said the GameCube has no games. There are what, five games available right now? And two of them are Star Wars games developed by LucasArts, who are also bringing two (better) Star Wars games to the Xbox. And the other three games are rehashes of old standbys, I've seen Luigi way too many times, I don't care anymore.

MS actually made an entire line of brand new games. Halo is the most incredible game I've ever seen, and no PC game can come close to rivalling it, in terms of storyline, graphics, AI, or anything like that. (Besides, the PC is not a console, so don't make comparisons not worth making.)

Paul, I obviously wasn't old enough to reach the keyboard during those debates. Was any of those machines the clear winner in those debates, like Xbox is here? Cuz so far, nobody's been able to make a clear argument against Xbox, or for their console :)

Well the kernel anyway.

Just to point out that Halo wasn't in-house, no idea about the others.

I know you hate to admit it but the X-Box is effectively a consolised PC, just as the CDTV was a consolised Amiga ... :) It really doesn't matter what spin you put on it, the guts originated from technology developed for the PC market. So often saying "It's far better than any game I've ever seen" really doesn't cut the mustard with someone like me who's been playing computer games since Pong :)

Hate to burst your bubble but X-Box isn't a clear winner at all, just as the Spectrum wasn't (had the largest game library and generated some of the most innovative games of it's time, including many of the genres you play nowadays), the C-64 wasn't (defined multi-colour, multi-sprite, high definition sound gaming), the CPC-464 (gave rise to the increased level of integration we still see today), the Atari ST (brought 16bit gaming to the masses, introduced the world to high resolution solid 3D graphics on a home system), the Amiga (defined the continuing era of dedicated processing for major functions) ... in 2 or 3 years time you'll have moved on to the next big thing and X-Box games will be selling for £15 as re-releases.

You want to hear a couple of clear arguments against the X-Box?

- Framerate
- Prize
- Corporate Politics
- Choice of games
- Prize
- Playstation 2
- GameCube

Oh, and Munch´s Odyssey is not an In-House-Title. As far as I know this time Microsoft didn´t even buy the developer for a change.

Meh, I no longer have any view, the endless arguments with kanuck about the xbox turned my gaming soul into a cold, empty, emotionless hulk. But I like a good big dust-up, so I'll take you all on! ;)

/picks up halfbrick, takes off sock, puts halfbrick in sock, swings sock madly, blah blah blah, blah blah blah, rambles wildly and incoherantly, as other people slowly edge away nervously, blah blah, blah......

Just wanted to let you know that I am the one who added the new option. :) I am interested in this topic but refuse to vote if I am not able to make a faithful decision. So now I don't need to press the "View results" link every time.
