easyphp is great! Took me a while to figure out I had to put my php files in the www folder for them to work! :P

Easyphp is not up to date. Wamp use PHP 5 whereas Easyphp use PHP 4 !

Alot of Web Hosts still use php4 too, as it's still supported, and far less finicky than php5. Considering when php5 came out, alot of webapps completely broke when using it compared to v4.

those are webaps based on classes ( or commonly said OOP )

I never really had trouble with it though. I dev on my localhost which has PHP5, and my webhost has PHP4, never had trouble. ( although my host is upgrading to PHP5 :D during christmas, what a present eh... )
