I couldn't even get phpBB 1.0.0 to install, let alone check it out :P

First, it said it couldn't find the DB info in config.php (Which I assumed it would put in when I ran install.php

What happened when I tried to install? A picture says a thoudand words...

I'm the only user (It's running on a Windows XP system and i'm an administrator) so I don't know how it got 403

Ah well. I'l live :|

I think that it is worth noting that phpBB 1.0.0 hasn't been supported for a long time. However, from memory you needed certain PHP settings which haven't been on by default for a long time for it to install/run/whatever.

You need to have register_globals on which is a severe security risk. You could also try using the register_globals function in the auth.php file, but that may not work.

You are unlikely to be the only 'user' on your system. If you go to Start, right click on my computer and select Manage, then go to Local Users and Groups, you will see how many users there are - usually some for different services, plus the help account, etc.

Though curiously, the PHP is evidently running because it output an error message, aside from the 403.
