And in case they are, why does phpBB still use them?

Could phpBB be entirely done via CSS? Are there plans for this? In 2.6 or 2.8 maybe... :roll:

It could be done with 2.0, heck even 1.x if you wanted to edit the PHP files.

As for templates that phpBB2.2 will ship with... will have to wait and see won't you? :D

Does this mean that a no-tables-but-CSS-made-layout template is something that could possibly be shipped with vanilla phpBB 2.2?

If you want to see the 'old' asciiCascade (the new one will be completely table-less) by SHS`, have a visit at *advertise* http://www.opentools.de" target="_blank *advertise*.

I think this is the only site using asciiCascade with a somewhat large community. Of course it is adjusted a bit to do things i wanted it to do. ;)

I note the plural. Was this a typo, or will 2.2 ship with multiple templates? I don't see this in the road map..

And yes, nested tables are very evil.
