Jira customization in Area51

Postby mdm » Mon Apr 23, 2012 9:44 am

Hello All,

I see that the Area51 website has glued together with a very nice header several tools, among which Atlassian JIRA & Bamboo. (Great job! 8-) )
I'm planning on doing a similar job for JIRA, Confluence and FishEye and I was wondering if the developers could give to the public some pointer and/or the code involved to accomplish this for JIRA, given that JIRA doesn't allow a direct way to customize the page header.

Thank you very much! :D

The area51 website code is publicly available on the GitHub repo. Note that it runs Symfony2 framework to tie the different sections together, I believe.
I do custom MODs. PM for a quote!

Thanks imkingdavid for the pointers!

I've downloaded the repo and looked through the code and it seems like - from a very preliminary analysis - only scripts for applying changes to phpbb plus the symfony pages.
I understand that overall_header is for instance the file managing the header that is used by all apps - among which, jira - but the way that this header ends up in jira once I visit http://tracker.phpbb.com still defies me.

Can anyone of the devs shed some light?

Thank you very much.

The area51 repository does not include the tracker, just items created under area51.phpbb.com, not any other sub-domains.

I'm afraid we don't release the source for our website (except the code in the public repos like the area51 repo, area51 copy of phpbb, website utils etc).

The tracker does not use the overall_header from the main area51, when updating it we have to manually update it on the area51 home and the tracker separately.

With a jira license you get access to some of its java code, assets, jsps etc. and you can modify it. That's how we got the header in there.
