Profile fields for 3.2.x

Postby EXreaction » Sat Mar 21, 2009 4:15 pm

I was wondering, what is going to happen with the normal profile fields with the changes to custom profile fields that are supposed to be coming for 3.2.x?

I think it would be great if those profile fields could all be moved and changed to custom profile fields. That way administrators can manage them completely, disable them, put them on registration, etc.

I for one would love to see user profiles beefed up for customization. The users want to social network, share ideas, comments, and have "friends lists" ..a personal profile page if you will... its essential.

I agree fully theat the custom profile fields are very useful and should have expanded capabilities. I would like to see included in the base system - one column of the custom profile table as a "timestamp" field. All of the DBMS support this column type. It would be set to be automatically updated when that row of the table is changed. This would allow the admins to find anyone who had updated their profiles and create a report or do related processing. Right now the column types are numbers, text, etc. but no 'timestamp'.

I would like to add it to the existing table, but I am unclear of the impact of 'fooling around' with an internal table.

Thanks,
