I can get a CVS copy and use winmerge to check it if you would like. :)

There have been some captcha changes in CVS since Beta1, not the least of which includes a new CAPTCHA Settings admin panel.

Ah, I see them now. :D

Policy: shape
Problem: It's difficult to distinguish characters and shapes to the background and some characters are one on the top of the other.

Policy: Entropy
Problem: The third character's color is nearly the background and not very readable.

Policy: Entropy
Problem: The second character's color is nearly the background and the color bars of it and not very readable.

Policy: Entropy
Problem: The T isn't very readable (made with small bars that aren't very distinguishable of the bars in the background).

Policy: entropy
Problem: the color of some characters is too near of the background color (J, the blue of the H)

Some Shape captcha are more unereadable that these examples.

Sorry for not following convention, but I really think those registration images that require us to entire the code that corresponds with the shape on the left are over the top. It took me a little while to work out what it wanted me to do (since the colours of the shapes were different on the left and right) and which was the correct code.

While this may be necessarily to prevent bot registrations, I feel that current systems (of just letters and numbers) is reasonable.

Me, I wouldn't mind them if they are understandable and readable. If some instructions are provided in the captcha image and it's easy enough to figure out (for humans, that is), I would actually prefer that over letters and numbers that are near-impossible to read.

Correct. I hate when letters are over others! :x It's very difficult to understand some captchas, so I disabled a few styles in my board.
Thank you for reading my post! ;)

But how shall we help you if you don't give us examples of which images you have problems to read? You're general comments do not allow us to understand _what_ problem you have at all. We figured out by now that you do have a problem apparantly, but please explain to us what problem by pointing them out in images! All further "discussion" posts will be removed from this topic.

Policy: Emboss1
Problem: While I can read this one fine on the TFT I'm posting it with, it was really hard to read on the CRT I generated it on. It appears to be rather bright and the CRT might have less less contrast which makes it really hard to read the G X X K part since the letters don't differ from the bright background.

Policy: Stencil
Problem: Is the last character an I or a T? Doesn't look like a T because the top part is too small, doesn't look like an I because top and bottom look different.
Screenshot: http://www.naderman.de/unreadable_captc ... ptcha4.png" target="_blank

Policy: Stencil
Problem: Is the third character an I or a 1?

Policy: Stencil
Problem: What are the third and fourth character?

Policy: Stencil
Problem: second and third character are hard to read, is the fifth an I or a 1?
Screenshot: http://www.naderman.de/unreadable_captc ... ptcha7.png" target="_blank

Policy: Emboss
Problem: Is the first character an S or a 5? Is the sixth character a B or an 8?

Policy: Emboss
Problem: See first image

Policy: Emboss
Problem: Is the second character a D or an O?
Screenshot: http://www.naderman.de/unreadable_captc ... tcha10.png" target="_blank

Policy: Overlap
Problem: Errr what am I supposed to do? This CAPTCHA definately needs an explanation along the lines of "Read the CAPTCHA from the left to right as if all characters were placed in one line", those lines at the top or bottom really don't help they only look like additional noise ;-)

Policy: Overlap
Problem: Is the fifth character an I or a 1?
Screenshot: http://www.naderman.de/unreadable_captc ... tcha12.png" target="_blank

Policy: Shape
Problem: Is the third character an I or a 1? Also "ignore colour differences, only the shape matters" or something similar should be added to the explanation text.
