Tabbed forumindex

Post by Rotsblok »

Im asking this cos i was today surfing the dev sites (if they have one) and i noticed some cool features on BartVB site namingly the tabbed index. I know the feature list is frozen but is BartVB doing a mod for it and is he going to publish it????

:D ok ok, but AJAX is good for some things, but I'm not so sure it's so vital for a forum. I mean a text input field (not unlike the one I'm typing in right now) to use AJAX and be WYSIWIG would be really neat but pretty unimportant. also AJAX voting in a poll would be a bit faster in the turnaround in voting, but the initial pageload would be increased slightly to accomodate this.

best use I can think of would be the WYSIWIG post reply.

Well to my knowledge a WYISWYG editor can be done solely with plain Javascript I believe.. No need for AJAX, as all its doing is changing the innerHTML of the window..

AJAX is primarily used for smaller widgets to make them run faster, as in Form Submission. I would like to see AJAX used within the Topic Search function. But lets not get this topic locked by going sideways..

it may be good for a poll, but almost everything else would kill the site's bandwidth because the client would have to check back every so often to see if there are new topics
