Logical number perhaps, but phpBB 2.0.x has the first registered user as user_id #2.

And, it would seem that updating from 2.0.x to 3.0.x will not change that, though conceivably a fresh install could do things differently.

Is it because the first user is 'guest' ? 'Anonymous' is user -1

1 and -1 are two completely different animals...

I could be wrong but I think it has more to do with the fact that 1 is evaluated to TRUE in programing languages. That was my assumption when I first saw it in phpBB 2.0.x. Not that there is necessarily anywhere in the code that could cause problems. Just my take.

The bots have positive user IDs though.

I think 2 is still the default user_id for the first administrator. The bots get 3-10 IIRC, but that could change since bots change all the time.

BlueRook, early in phpBB2 dev, ANONYMOUS was 1. That was changed for some reason, possible conversions from 1.x.
