I feel that phpbb has too many links that desensitizes the member and causes them to ignore all the wordy links available to them. Which is a shame, because the links are quite useful.
The best way to resolve this is to shift the links to more appropriate areas.
The focus of the result is to maintain the powerful features while keeping things visually basic and intuitive.
Side note : I would suggest a very loud icon for the user control panel, otherwise, people will never click it and realize it's features.

Re: phpbb partial facelift
hmm, this will not be the default style once they reach gold, so it would be kinda pointless for the devs to waste valuable coding time on a style that although will be included, would not be set as the default.
once the forum is release im sure their will be some people releasing modified versions of subSilver.

Re: phpbb partial facelift
1) You know from the other topic that this isn't the final style.
True you're making suggestions, but you're also remaking them when you got an answer.
MS Windows makes a 'Control Panel' common logic.
I like my forum navigation to be available right where I need it, ON THE FORUM. If I'm doing support on a forum, I'm going to check the list of new topics, go through them, and on the last reply, I'm going to jump over to all unanswered posts.
Why wouldn't I want that readily accessible?
i) First of all, it breaks the consistency. Having said point 3, it doesn't need to move.
ii) Post types aren't categories. The User Control Panel is supposed to be about options/controls/preferences.
Again, while the unanswered/active/new/my posts don't even need to be in the UserCP pages, they need even LESS be inlined with the controls.
However, they should remain there for the above reason (i).
iii) Stats are fun, and the main User CP page gets hella empty when you remove them.
5) Feel free to do this in your own template whenever phpBB3 releases! Don't expect me to use it, though.
So far as I'm aware, him and him alone (I could be wrong).
Point being, Acyd isn't going to waste his time on the template itself, just the template parsing code and the like.

2) I don't believe this, because (nearly, the majority at the least) just HAS to specify an avatar. I could be wrong, but I really don't believe it.bejocund wrote: Side note : I would suggest a very loud icon for the user control panel, otherwise, people will never click it and realize it's features.

The devs time will not be wasted, subBlue is making (or perhaps already finished? who knows!) the new style.tiger2kn5 wrote: hmm, this will not be the default style once they reach gold, so it would be kinda pointless for the devs to waste valuable coding time on a style that although will be included, would not be set as the default.
