Recycle Bin

Post by Natan »

As the search system is down, I apoligize in advance if this has been discussed before.

Currently, when I delete a post from a topic, it's gone forever. Is there a feature that will put it into a Recycle Bin-like place that will keep deleted posts just in case I want to review it/save it for later?

That feature is not currently in CVS, so it probably won't make it into 3.0 final.

That'll need a mod to do.

You can always split a post from a thread ;) (even 2.0.x can do that)
does exactly what you want too

I believe he was referring to deleting topics, not necessarily individual posts, and having them go to a special forum.

This is already possible in 2.0.x, and 2.1.x, move the topic to the hidden/private 'recycle' forum, and do not leave a shadow.

That's true, but can you move individual posts as well?

What I've seen in IPB is that when you delete something to go to the Recycle Bin, what happens is that the topic/post automatically moves into the Recycle Bin, and the title changes to
From Topic ID 1234: Title of Topic/Post
I guess I'll have to wait for a MOD.

The feature is called splitting.

IIRC this feature was originally on the 3.0 / 2.2 feature list, but was moved back for time issues. It might find its way into the next version, 3.2, which we promise, won't take as long as Olympus. ;)

That is one promise I feel pretty confident about. ;)
