Well I think this has to be done case to case.

In my case... about 2500 users... 6 moderators and 1 admin (me) it is easy.
for the photoalbum the moderator can move lock or delete pictures.
anyone I trust to moderate the forum should be able to do that also. (its mainly to remove illegal content)

so anyone who has an a_ set should be able to do that. If he is not trustworthy he wouldnt get the a_ anyway.

But i understand that in very large communities you can have moderators for some forums that should not be trusted to access all features of a mod.

What I'm saying is, don't assume that because a user has a few a_, the founder(s) trust him. If you really don't want to add your own permissions to the ACP, which should be relatively simple once the guide is published, then just go by $user->is_founder alone.

Ok.. I understood :mrgreen:

but....still.. maybe i misunderstood the a_ ...
As I understand someone gets an a_ so he can administer something.. am I wrong? .. why would I let anybody administer anything.. even if its only the smilies.. if I dont trust him??????

after this parenthesis.. I did following..
in the Album acp there is a dropdown.. where I can set the album admin.. as founder.. or just having an a_ or belonging to a group.. or or or..
but default is founder..

People with large boards may trust certain users to do things - say backup the DB - but not others, say mess with the photo album.

But anyways, that's cool.

It seems that the first option makes it so that only one admin can turn the album on and off. What if that user is on vacation in a place without internet and another admin needs to take the album offline for some reason?

The second option is also limiting - you're undermining the Olympus permissions system. I would suggest that you do what everyone else has said and add the permission options to the ACP.

we are talking about different things...
Another admin can take that action !!!

The only thing I want.. is to have unrestricted rights myself.. if its my board!!
it has nothing todo with the other admins.. their rights should be able to be set additionnally.
example:
if( (user is founder) OR (user has permission to switch album on/off)
{
ability to switch album off
}

thats what i will implement

i haven't looked into the permissions too much, but i believe the founder automatically getspermissions for everything by default.
