indeed. Thats especially dangerous in PHP, with the whole URL variable insertion thing. You know if you don't set the variable to something, then you can just do something like "http://somedomain.com/file.php?var=forced" and it will set the variable to what you told it to set.

Only if register_globals is enabled. And fortunately it is off on all recent versions of PHP by default, which IMO is a good thing since there is a potential security risk from it if you forget to initialize a variable before using it, plus it encouraged sloppy coding.
