A scripted approach to a target= replacement does have the advantage of pretty much forcing the noscript alternative to use the current window.

I think the W3C had to have been under a lot of pressure to keep frames alive and to reimplement target= outside a frames context. Maybe this was one area where compromise was unavoidable from a practical point of view, to keep XHTML viable in commercial settings ... ?

Actually, that is rather close to the php way of doing it.

Code: Select all

$numSpaces=3;
for($loop;$loop<=numSpaces;$loop++){
echo "<br />";
}

or simply:

Code: Select all

echo "<br /><br /><br />";

You missed out the $ before the 'numSpaces' in the for syntax. :P

Besides, that's not the phpbb way now, is it? :P

well if you want to get technical his code would do the loop around 8 billion times or so. He never sets his variable to 0, and integers start at the lowest number possible (something around -8,539,000).

Well let's just say that you should never use an uninitialized variable in your code if you want to guarantee the way it will work.
