How about maybe a javascript expand and colapse? Just to save time and bandwidth. ;)
Like in Invision?

:shudders:

Wastes so much time imho.

Invision has no system like that maybe in the ACP.
What I meant was for the page to load the whole nav info so when the user clicks on a category it can just expand without having to load a whole new page.
Get it now?

It's a completely seperate module ... it must load a new page in order to display the appropriate output. If you mean display the full list of options by default, that's doable and may (or may not) happen. However I'm no fan of javascript and use it only where increased functionality outweighs the annoyance of its presence :)

I didn't mean to load the whole UCP module.
Just the menu so that you can expand it while staying on the same section then from there you can click on whereever you want to go to.

Example: (How it is now)
I'm in my UCP's home. I want to edit my signiture.
I have to load two new pages to go there. First Expanding the menu while taking me to a section I don't want to go. Then clicking on Signiture.

My Idea:
Load the whole menu system ONLY. Then when they hit the UCP section it would expand some some links to other section then you can go from there. Get it>

A Tree:
---- LOAD WHOLE MENU -----
- Section 1 (Expanded)
>> Pref 1
>> Pref 2
+ Section 2 (Colapsed: Load inside: >> Pref 3 and >> Pref 4)

When exapnding Section2 it would not have to load new things.
It only loads the menu,
The when exapnding a new section you stay where you were you go to the new destination by clicking on a link inside a section. Get it now?

The user can expand and collapes as many sections they like.

I'm not sure why you "explained" it ... you could've simply said "I meant the later" ;)

Yes, it's in the ACP. It's JavaScript-powered, and all it does is slow you down. Completely useless (again, imho).

Except that it downloads everything anyway. It just won't show it until you click on the plus. It's the pinnacle of annoying design. I like the current phpBB admin panel system--I suppose some don't like to scroll as much? I don't know. The UCP here is nice, too, though knowing how little users like to explore, they may never even look at some of the options. That's only a problem for the laziest users, anyway.

No, I meant that you have to wait like it is at the moment.
