I was disappointed at first too. But I thinks its better to let them work with no time limit.

EDIT: This is in response to seec77

/me gets the impression someone needs to calm down ...

There are thousands of boards out there. Very few will make any active use of multiple language highlighters. I have to decide what's best for the majority of our users, not just some ... please keep that in mind.

As for the UCP ... IMO the vB UCP is a mess, too many items in one place. I believe our UCP (which is still not complete ... particularly with respect additional information where it currently just says "Joined") is more appropriatley laid out and hence easier to navigate. I'm sure some will disagree and I'll listen to all suggestions ... however in the end it's down to (mainly) me.

I swear, this question gets asked by 10 people every day.

phpBB 2.2 will be released when it is finished. there is no date set in stone because if they announce one, people will be *beep* if and when they dont meet said date.

ahem... sorry about that.

what you have now (in the ucp) doesn't work, and isn't really comfy...
Search function isn't complete. Wait awhile before requesting this, until you're sure they've missed it. (Beta or as soon as request tracker opens back up.)

Even if they do, I think egosearch is almost worthy of being mod material. It is very easy to create functions that act as egosearch or otherwise.

About using an XML file for syntax highlighting, jEdit has a nice, simple XML schema for edit modes that could be adapted...

At present we're supporting PHP highlighting only, as I've already noted.

And isn't that enough? I was merely responding to the posts mentioning using an XML highlighting mode system.

Patience. :) We'll know soon enough if the developers are considering this. They at least noted it.
