They could take the M$ route and release it now so unsuspecting users can discover the bugs in it and prompt a couple of dozen monthly "patches". Omit certain embellishments because they aren't ready yet. Leave in some flawed testing code because in the rush to deliver, there wasn't time to clean it up....
But personally, I think it's a better system to keep it closely held until as many bugs are fixed (there are ALWAYS bugs) as possible before turning it loose on an unsuspecting public.
