is PHPBB 3 Better than 2

Post by turkakbay »

Hi,
I am new to forums and just beginning to learn about them.
Since I need to learn it either way I decided to install version 3 ( thinking 3 is better than 2) then Started thinking 3 is not always better than 2 (Matrix, Back to the future, Fast and the furious are some examples)

So my question is is version 3 better than 2 if so why.

Thanks

http://www.phpbb.com/about/features/

The advantage of phpBB2 is that it's been out for 6 years and has a lot of MODs available for it.

The advantage of phpBB3 is that a lot of the main useful MODs are now features that are built in. Among other things.

Install them both, try them both and see which you like.

This would probably be a better topic on phpbb.com

Asking which is better is a really tough question, basically because no one can answer it but yourself.

In a nutshell, however, if you want a really great forums package, and nothing else than phpBB3 is probably better.

OTOH, if you want to customize and tweak your forum with lots of features, then phpBB2 is probably better.

The phpbb team already created a handy comparison guide to help answer your question.

Read 'em up, and see which one you like best! :)
