yeah, no kidding... how does the owner resign an open-source project?
I mean, when you’re not participating anyways, what difference does it make to formally 'resign'?
Well as domain owner you DO have totally control. So in giving that up he is effectively handing over control. But the new whois info is masked by a privacy service.
I think its a good call. He is handing over to people who are active and that in itself shows he cares about phpBB, as seems he might have been the sole receiptiant of any ad money 8O

Granted... I am sure he did nicely out of it, but he could have held on and keep that right to the monies earned. So yes he got a short term gain but he did give up the long term on. Maybe I am totally wrong, there might be lots behind the scenes but in my mind at least its now controlled by those active.
Well this was a shock, I thought he would actually return to the helm, but I guess it's not to be. Like he hasn't done anything that is seeable in a long time now, and I guess with phpbb3 rc1 just about ready, he thought it was time to hand over everything. One question though which may seem dumb and all but, who is now in charge of phpbb?
