If it's a 3.x forum, no idea. If it's 2.x: Configuration -> Disable Board -> Yes.

What exactly was happening?

You've just installed the latest version (2.0.22) which has no known security exploits.

I posted my website in g4tv.com offtopic section of the forum and all the members have been spamming my site with porn images and porn stories for about 12 hours now. I locked my forum. I honestly dont know what to do, I banned all thier isp addresses and they got past that by using a proxy site. They are still waiting for when it comes up again, apparently the sick little punks have a website where they raid other sites. What can I do to avoid the spam post? They came in the hundreds because theres hundreds of them. I spent around 4 hours before I made this post deleting all the topics but they launched another attack after that. Any ideas how I can make it where these people cant raid my forum anymore?

You could use the spam filter
use

Code: Select all

http://*
and the filter replacement would be

Code: Select all

–––
that will keep them from posting any images and having them show up… it would also make sure they don't have any links of any kind.

That's probably the easiest way to take care of the problem… if their images and links don't show up, they should bug off. (one would hope)

May I ask what kind of forum you are running? Is it something that you advertise for? I run a small women's group forum and I keep it set to where all of my forums are hidden to anyone who isn't in the main usergroup. When a new member joins they have to be added by an admin before they can view and post in any of the forums. That probably wouldn't work very well for someone who has a bunch of new members joining each day though.

yea but its more then that, they post porn stories in text. I cant blocked thier isp addresses, so im thinking maybe I need to set a option where they got to register a email address then I can block the email address? Sure they can keep making new email addresses but its a pain and should slow them down. How can I make it where they gotta activate a email to sign up?

I believe there's an option in configuration, "Activate account" then, you should see something like "Yes" "No" or perhaps "None" "User" "Admin" choose either yes, or user, depending on how it is listed.
