Thanks jumborex, I'm sure that many people will look for an alternative of phpbb3 'cause they won't still only wait for the RC1 (always people need to know some date(s) of release as some catch points).

That's because the fix bugs happen so fast that you don;t see them happen when they happen :P

Ok, I've never said, that devs don't fix a lot of bugs...
But it's simple math = bugtracker - for example 60 open bug tickets

First day: 8 new bugs, 7 bugs fixed - 61 bugs
Second day: 9 new bugs, 8 bugs fixed - 62 bugs
Third day: 8 new bugs, 6 bugs fixed - 64 bugs
Fourth day: 5 new bugs, 8 bugs fixed - 61 bugs

And this go round and round in circles....

That's the nature of betas. It goes on and on and on and....then suddenly, out of the blue, when you aren't expecting it, they release it. They can give a date, but then what would you have? A buggy forum that your users would balk at.
It's better to exercise some patience and wait. The devs have been doing this sort of thing for years. They know when it's ready for release.

Check out the bug tracker on this "buggy forum". Should we be using it as it is so full of bugs?

yeah yeah yeah... I know... it will be ready when it's ready.

I've been wondering that too, but actually, there are 50 bug reports (not bugs) for the last two months, while phpbb3 has 50 bug reports for the last three days.
Of course phpbb3 is being throughoutly tested, but on the other hand phpbb2 is being used live by many many people, and I also don't think devs are harvesting bugs for it like they do for v.3 (although I might be wrong, never actually checked).
So, all in all, I don't think phpbb2 is so "buggy" (and I couldn't expect otherwise, seen it has been released some 5 years ago).

Let me quote myself from different topic: :D

Don't you know that this is a new phpbb game called 'From 60 to 80 bugs'? :D The question is: Who's the author of the game?

unless it's the same bugs, or if the new bugs are (mostly) direct result of bad fixes, i can't see how this is "going round and round in cirles".
this is a very strightforward process of testing => discovering issues => reporting issues => handling issues.

(and btw, as i mentioned earlier in this thread, you seem to confuse between "reports" and "bugs".
quick look at the last 25 closed reports will show you that only 10 actually represent bug-fixes. the other 15 are "not a bug", "will not fix", "support request", "duplicate", "unreproducible" and "already fixed". this is actually not a bad record: more than 1/3 of the reports seem to point to real bugs, which get fixed).

Ok, I'm a bit nervous of releasing RC1, because my users wait for new forum, I'd like to install phpbb3, but I want to install RC1 - not B5. How can I tell to users when will be new forum available? I answer them still - It'll be soon, It'll be soon....and I lost a lot of them, they can't wait....
So I'm really nervous... :?
