Its actually only meant to create more discussion material for this topic which lives on rumors and otherwise
As for if it will happen or not, nobody here knows except for the developers, but it's fun to think of it that way

What are those?
Also a note that Beta1 was released on June 17, which was the 6th anniversary of the creation of phpBB, and that was released rather late in the day UTC.
A successful community begins with YOU. Tag, you're it.
The main one is that the CVS commit for the database schema version number changes from -dev to the version number being released. Each time we've had a new version that's happened about a day or 2 beforehand.
I also, personally, don't think the bug level is low enough yet.
I reckon they still have some work to do before RC1.
Including prosilver in the latest CVS was a good bit of work, it probably made a lot of board owners (me for one) try a test install and run it 'semi-live' (i.e. tell a select group from the real live board to have a go and try it out).
This will find a few more bugs - admins playing with a few test accounts cannot find the 'bugs' that end-users can find

There have been several bugs found with it since it was released in CVS… so yes, that is very true
