The real issue with SF is the fact it takes some time for the mirrors to replicate new releases... rather than the amount of data they can show through their pipes.

Thats a really good point. After the files first get uploaded to upload.sourceforge.net its only on one mirror for a while. So if your going to take sourceforge down with phpBB downloads thats the time to do it

There is [Removed] a romanian version of phpBB, try talk to them and ask them for support.
If i manage to download this version of phpBB i can create a mirror on my site.

That's 4.8 Gigabits/second worth of connectivity, or shifting a DVD ISO in about 8 seconds.

I've just tried to download the beta and every single mirror gives the following message:

"You are requesting file: /phpbb/phpBB-3.0.B1.zip
There was a problem downloading the file from optusnet.dl.sourceforge.net. Please try a different mirror."

Is anyone hosting this please because I'd like to get my hands on a copy.

People really should know better than to download from anywhere other than phpBB.com and/or SF.net... since as per the very blog linked to above says:

I worry about getting something that’s been slightly altered.

Also, the non-zip files on SF can be downloaded just fine.
