Maintenance = prepairing site for Olympus?

Post by Newray »

The phpBB homepage is now offline for more than 40 hours. Does this all mean that 'maintenance' is to prepare the homepage to work with phpBB3 that will be released? If I look at the status of the project, it looks pretty complete. This all is just a thought I had.

Actually, I thought they they are keeping the same server, just moving it across the country or galaxy or something like that.

If the venerated phpBB.com had to be offline for days to just prepare it for phpBB 3, that wouldn't be too inviting to those wanting to upgrade to it on the servers we mere mortals use...

Just a thought. :)

Whatever it is... is a good thing that they are down because now all the users from phpbb.com can come to area51 and put the system under alot of traffic/stress...

so now we can see how olympus handles under pressure ;)

We are simply moving the server from one datacenter to another, nothing more involved than that.

Of course we're also doing maintainence whilst it's down, but this isn't upgrading to 3.0 at this time
