See, my phpBB2 installation was damaged by hackers, and I had this perfect version
of Olympus just sitting there.

Now i'm hand porting 1600 posts and my hands are killing me. I've been at it for 5
hours and i'm only 5% there.

Please give us something!? We really like phpBB, we just want to test and use it in a
working environment.

Please have a look here: Topic 23036

All this has been discussed there, points have been made (and it's not like it's an old thread, it's still active), etc. No need to repeat it here :)

Well, it's not a complete CVS version... it has been upgraded, technically the tag
should read 2.2.0, not 2.1.0.

I mean, it is a 2.1.0 release, but it has the stability of version 2.2.0.

The only real difference in it is that it lacks the Database Converter.

I don't understand what you're replying to. The thread I linked is about updating, and the question about when a 2.0->3.0 DB-updater will and can be released has been discussed there (also people that would like to see a converter sooner rather than later for testing purposes, including myself).

Yep, sorry, I saw some references to "no support until 2.2.0" and got caught on
that.

AFAIK, I've seen it here, the Converter is ready, we just need that simple
upgrade.php file released. It's one file, nothing big, but it assists with the
future development of phpBB in to 2.2.0 and beyond by allowing the public to test
it.

Don't get me wrong, the phpBB development team are doing great with Olympus,
we just want to test, be the public beta testers, and now we want to test the
upgrade script.

And to be honest, it doesn't make much difference if we get it now, as it's a free
forum software, and all of us will upgrade to the Final Release when it comes out
anyway.

It will cause more headaches for the developers with a flurry of people posting problems with their live Olympus CVS boards. At this point, testing is better off being done by the more technically capable users, limiting the distribution of convertors and die() messages will help keep it primarily in those hands.

There'll be enough time to further test Olympus in the RC stages, right now there are a lot of basic bugs that need to be fixed which can be found by basic testing.

Ok, that's fair. I understand.

I guess the difficulties of getting Olympus 2.1.0+ ported were getting to me.
